Fair Value Gap (FVG)

An FVG is a gap left when price moves too fast for fair trading. Markets often return to fill it — and that is where ICT traders wait.

In normal conditions buyers and sellers meet at every price level. But when big news lands or a large institutional order hits, price moves so fast that some levels get almost no trading at all. That gap is an FVG.

Find it with three candles: if the high of candle 1 and the low of candle 3 do not overlap, the space between them is an FVG. That is the whole rule.

ICT names FVGs by direction. The names look strange but they are just abbreviations.

The beginner mistake is entering the moment an FVG appears. Wait for price to return to it. An FVG is not an entry signal — it is a meeting point.

The gap between 4,042 and 4,048 is a $6 FVG — no trading took place inside it.
Do not buy immediately at 4,055. Wait for price to retrace down and touch 4,048.

Target: 4,064 ($16) → 1:2 reward-to-risk
