This lesson walks through every step of order execution on MT4 — market orders, all 4 pending order types, setting Stop Loss/Take Profit, modifying open trades, and closing positions fully or partially.

A market order buys or sells immediately at the current market price. The fastest way to open the order window is to press F9, or double-click the symbol in Market Watch. You can also right-click the chart and choose Trading > New Order.

Buys open at the Ask price (the higher one) and close at the Bid — Sells open at the Bid and close at the Ask. The gap between them is the spread, which is why a brand-new trade always shows a small negative number immediately

A pending order is a pre-set instruction that triggers automatically when price reaches your chosen level — no need to sit and watch the screen. In the order window, switch Type from "Market Execution" to "Pending Order" and pick one of the 4 types. Choosing the wrong type is the single most common beginner mistake, so study the diagram below carefully.

✅ វិធីចាំងាយ ✅ Easy way to remember

Limit = «ចាំតម្លៃល្អជាង» (Buy ថោកជាង / Sell ថ្លៃជាង) — Stop = «ចាំការបញ្ជាក់ទិសដៅ» (Buy ពេលឡើងផុត / Sell ពេលធ្លាក់ផុត)។ អ្នកក៏អាចដាក់ Pending Order ដោយចុចខាងស្ដាំលើ Chart ត្រង់កម្រិតតម្លៃដែលចង់បាន រួចជ្រើស Trading — MT4 នឹងណែនាំប្រភេទត្រឹមត្រូវឱ្យស្រាប់ តាមទីតាំងដែលអ្នកចុច

Limit = "waiting for a better price" (buy cheaper / sell higher) — Stop = "waiting for confirmation" (buy on a break up / sell on a break down). You can also place a pending order by right-clicking the chart at your target level and choosing Trading — MT4 automatically suggests the correct type based on where you clicked

ការកំណត់ Stop Loss និង Take Profit Setting Stop Loss & Take Profit

The Stop Loss (SL) closes your trade automatically when the loss reaches a set level — it is your account's shield. The Take Profit (TP) closes the trade automatically when profit hits your target. Both live on the broker's server, so they keep working even if you shut down your computer or lose internet.

Never trade without a Stop Loss! A single unprotected trade can wipe out your entire account during major news or a sudden spike. "I'll close it manually if it goes wrong" does not work while you're asleep or away from the screen

ការកែប្រែ Order ដែលកំពុងបើក Modifying an Open Order

បន្ទាប់ពី Order បើកហើយ អ្នកនៅតែអាចកែ SL និង TP បានគ្រប់ពេល។ នៅ Terminal (Ctrl+T) > Tab "Trade" ចុចខាងស្ដាំលើ Order រួចជ្រើស "Modify or Delete Order"។ បញ្ចូលតម្លៃ SL/TP ថ្មី រួចចុចប៊ូតុង Modify។ ចំពោះ Pending Order ដែលមិនទាន់ដំណើរការ អ្នកអាចកែតម្លៃបើក (Entry Price) ឬលុបចោល (Delete) បានទាំងស្រុង។

Once a trade is open, you can still adjust its SL and TP at any time. In the Terminal (Ctrl+T) > "Trade" tab, right-click the order and choose "Modify or Delete Order". Enter the new SL/TP values and click the Modify button. For pending orders that have not triggered yet, you can also change the entry price or delete the order entirely.

Enter the new SL/TP — the Modify button becomes clickable only when the values are valid (far enough from the Stops Level)

Click Modify, then verify the SL/TP lines on the chart have moved to the right place

ចុចខាងស្ដាំលើ Order > Trailing Stop រួចជ្រើសចម្ងាយ (ឧ. 30 Points) — MT4 នឹងរំកិល SL តាមក្រោយតម្លៃដោយស្វ័យប្រវត្តិ ពេលចំណេញកើនឡើង ដើម្បីការពារប្រាក់ចំណេញ។ ប៉ុន្តែប្រយ័ត្ន៖ Trailing Stop ធម្មតារបស់ MT4 ដំណើរការតែពេល Platform បើកប៉ុណ្ណោះ (មិនមែនលើ Server ទេ)

Right-click a trade > Trailing Stop and pick a distance (e.g. 30 points) — MT4 automatically moves your SL behind the price as profit grows, locking in gains. But beware: MT4's built-in trailing stop only works while the platform is running (it is not server-side)

ការបិទ Order ទាំងស្រុង និងបិទដោយផ្នែក Closing Trades — Fully & Partially

ដើម្បីបិទ Order ដោយដៃ ចុចសញ្ញា "×" នៅចុងបន្ទាត់ Order ក្នុង Terminal (បិទភ្លាមៗបើបើក One-Click Trading) ឬចុចពីរដងលើ Order រួចចុចប៊ូតុង "Close" ពណ៌លឿង។ ចំណេញ ឬខាត នឹងត្រូវបូក/ដកចូល Balance ភ្លាមៗ ហើយ Order នឹងផ្លាស់ទៅ Tab "Account History"។

To close a trade manually, click the "×" at the end of its row in the Terminal (instant if One-Click Trading is enabled), or double-click the trade and press the yellow "Close" button. The profit or loss is added to your balance immediately, and the trade moves to the "Account History" tab.

A partial close means closing only part of the position. Double-click the trade and reduce the Volume (e.g. from 0.10 to 0.05) before clicking Close — half the position closes and banks its profit, while the rest keeps running with the same SL/TP.

Full close: click "×" in the Terminal, or the Close button in the order window

Practice every order type (market, limit, stop, modify, partial close) on a demo account at least 20 times until it becomes muscle memory — only then switch to a live account. A technical mistake on demo costs nothing; on a live account it costs real money
