The chart is where traders spend most of their time — analysis, drawing levels, and every buy/sell decision happens on the chart. But a freshly installed MT4/MT5 comes with default colors and settings that are hard to read and poorly suited for analysis. This lesson teaches you how to open charts, choose chart types and timeframes, customize colors, add indicators, and save your setup as a template so you never have to rebuild it from scratch.

In both MT4 and MT5, there are several ways to open a chart. The fastest is to right-click a symbol in the Market Watch window and choose "Chart Window". You can also simply drag a symbol from Market Watch and drop it onto the chart area.

MT4/MT5 offers 3 chart types, switchable instantly from the toolbar or with Alt+1 (Bar), Alt+2 (Candlestick), Alt+3 (Line). Most traders use candlesticks because they show the most information at a glance — the Open, Close, High, and Low of each period in a single shape.

ការជ្រើសរើស Timeframe Choosing a Timeframe

Experienced traders often use multi-timeframe analysis — reading the big trend on D1 or H4, then finding a precise entry on H1 or M15. Watching only one small timeframe can blind you to the market's bigger direction

ចុច F8 ឬចុចខាងស្ដាំលើ Chart រួចជ្រើស "Properties" ដើម្បីបើកបង្អួចកែសម្រួល។ នៅ Tab "Colors" អ្នកអាចប្ដូរពណ៌ផ្ទៃខាងក្រោយ (Background) Candle ឡើង (Bull) Candle ចុះ (Bear) និងបន្ទាត់ Grid។ នៅ Tab "Common" (MT4) ឬ "Show" (MT5) អ្នកអាចបើក/បិទ Grid, Volume, និង Ask Line។

Press F8, or right-click the chart and choose "Properties", to open the settings window. In the "Colors" tab you can change the background, bull candles, bear candles, and grid lines. In the "Common" tab (MT4) or "Show" tab (MT5) you can toggle the grid, volume, and the Ask line.

Use the mouse wheel or +/- keys to zoom, and press End to jump back to the latest candle instantly. Press F12 to step the chart forward one candle at a time — great for practicing analysis (manual bar replay)

ការបន្ថែម Indicator និងឧបករណ៍គូរ Adding Indicators & Drawing Tools

Indicator ស្តង់ដារទាំងអស់ (Moving Average, RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands។ល។) ស្ថិតនៅក្នុងបង្អួច Navigator ឬ Menu Insert > Indicators។ គ្រាន់តែអូស Indicator ពី Navigator មកទម្លាក់លើ Chart បង្អួចកំណត់ (Settings) នឹងលោតឡើង ដើម្បីឱ្យអ្នកកែ Period ពណ៌ និងកម្រាស់បន្ទាត់។

All standard indicators (Moving Average, RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, etc.) live in the Navigator window or under Insert > Indicators. Simply drag an indicator from Navigator onto the chart — a settings window pops up where you adjust the period, color, and line thickness.

Don't overload one chart with indicators — 8-10 indicators won't improve your analysis; they just create clutter and conflicting signals. Most professional traders use only 2-3

Template និង Profile — រក្សាទុកការរៀបចំរបស់អ្នក Templates & Profiles — Saving Your Setup

Once your chart looks right (colors, indicators, all settings), save it as a template so you can apply it to any new chart in two clicks. Right-click the chart > Template > Save Template, then name it. If you name it "default", it automatically applies to every new chart you open.

A Profile, on the other hand, saves your entire workspace — which symbols are open, on which timeframes, and how the windows are arranged. It is ideal if you trade different groups of markets, e.g. one profile for Gold and another for Forex pairs.
